How big will my Lab-Pit Mix Grow? And how fast? |
|
| |
Dear Dr. Baum --
Hello. I have a lab/pit mix. He is about 12
weeks old. I would like to know how big he will get? Also how fast
will he grow?
Thanks,
Tiffani
Dear Tiffani:
If you have seen his parents, that will provide you with the best
estimate of his ultimate size. That being said, adult male labs can
weigh from 70 to 100 pounds. Male pits have an even larger
variation, from 60 to 120 pounds. He will continue to grow in size
until 10-11 months (that is when his bones stop elongating), but
will continue to increase his weight and muscle mass until 15 months
of age.
